Anchorage is served by Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport which is approx 2 miles south of Anchorage. Over 240 flights arrive every day at this airport. International as well as domestic airlines serving Anchorage Airport are: Delta, Alaska Airlines, Icelandair Airlines, American, JetBlue, Korean Air, Sun Country, Ravn Alaska, Yakutia Airlines, Grant Aviation, United Airlines, Condor, and PenAir.

Ground Transportation
  • Inter-terminal: Shuttle bus service is offered at the airport. It runs every 15 minutes between south and north terminals. 
To and From Airport
  • People Mover bus service: People Mover bus system is Anchorage’s public transit system that serves the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport’s north and south terminals. It connects the airport to the Diamond Center mall and downtown transit center. 
  • Taxis: Many taxi companies operate at the airport in front of all the terminals. The fare from airport to downtown is between $18 and $20.
  • Rental cars: Rental cars are also available at each terminal.

Alaska Highway Route: Anchorage is reachable via road from U.S. and Canada. The Alaska Highway Route begins in northern British Columbia and ends in Fairbanks.  It extends over 2,000 miles from the British Columbia (south) to Anchorage. Reach Anchorage via either the Glenn Highway from Tok or the Parks Highway from Fairbanks.

Glenn Highway: The Glenn Highway is a highway in Alaska that leads through Glennallen and the Mat-Su Valley to Tok meeting the Alaska Highway which is approx 330 miles from Anchorage. It is easy to get to Anchorage by Car via this highway.

Getting to Anchorage by Bus

Alaska/Yukon Trails runs a bus and a van service between Anchorage and Fairbanks, with a stop at Talkeetna and Denali National Park. A one-way ticket fare from Anchorage to Fairbanks is $99 and to Denali is $75.

Getting to Anchorage by RV

It is easy to get to Anchorage by RV (Recreational Vehicle). You can get your own RV or rent one. Some companies provide one-way rentals starting or ending in Anchorage.

The Alaska Railroad connects Anchorage with Fairbanks, Talkeetna and Denali National Park (north) and Whittier and Seward (south). A one-way ticket to Fairbank costs $210 during summers and $159 during winter season, and for Alaska residents it is $127.

Getting to Anchorage by Cruises

Cruises travel from their terminals to Anchorage. One-way cruise lines leave from British Columbia, and travel to South-central and Southeast Alaska and the Anchorage.

Getting Around Anchorage by Bus

Anchorage has a public bus service-People Mover. These buses run every 30 minutes from Monday to Friday, and every hour on Saturday & Sunday. The fare for adults is $1.75 per person, for children aged 5 to 18 is $1, and the Day Pass costs $5. The public bus depot is at G Street and 6th Street.
