Anchorage has plenty of historical and cultural attractions, stylish bars, pubs and dance clubs, restaurants, wilderness everywhere and outdoor recreational activities galore. Whether you’re in Anchorage during the 20 hours of daylight in summer or 18 hours of darkness in winter, there’s bounty to do and see here in 24 hours.

Breakfast at 9:00am!

Start you day with delicious and wholesome breakfast at Snow City Cafe. The cafe serves creative fare. Some of the delicious options on the menu that you must try are: stuffed French toast, the Kodiak Benedict, homemade granola, salmon cakes, crab cake, meatloaf sandwich, and other delicious eats. There are also lots of vegan options as well.

Catch up on Alaskan history at 10:00am!

Head over to the Anchorage Museum of History and Art that depicts the Alaskan history, art, culture and science. It features several permanent and traveling exhibits, annual events and special programs. It has an Alaskan history gallery, Imaginarium Discovery Center that houses Alaskan attractions like polar bears, marine life, glaciers, volcanoes and aurora borealis, as well as Smithsonian Arctic Studies Center that houses 600 unique Alaskan artifacts.

Explore the natural history at 11:00am!

Next, head off to Alaska Museum of Natural History that features the exhibits of Alaskan minerals, dinosaur fossils and rocks. It also houses exhibits that depict the Alaskan Gold Rush and other economic facts related to it, and have several hands-on displays for children.

Experience the native life of Alaska at 12:00pm!

Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center and learn about the Alaska’s varied Native cultures. It includes art exhibits, storytelling events, movies and native dwellings replicas. Walk through six authentic Native village sites and know about the culture and traditions of Alaska’s indigenous people.

Out to Lunch at 1:00pm!

Head off to The Olive Garden (1186 N Muldoon Rd) that serves up Italian and Greek food. For some American fare, step into the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers (Tikahtnu Commons 1190 N. Muldoon Road). Go to Ronnie Sushi (924 Muldoon Rd) that serves delicious Asian and Japanese cuisine, or head to the El Rodeo (385 Muldoon Rd) serving Mexican fare. 

Familiarize with Alaska’s natural beauty at 2:00pm!

Head over to the Alaska Botanical Garden that features 150 native plants and more than 900 species of perennials. Go on a nature walk, explore the themed gardens- herb, wildflower and alpine rock, and experience the natural beauty.

Come face to face with animals at 3:00pm!

Visit the Alaska Zoo that features exotic and native wildlife in their natural habitats. Amur tigers, polar bears, grizzly bears, snow leopards, arctic foxes, moose, caribou, musk ox, and other animals and birds call it their home. This is the most popular spot in Anchorage, not to be missed. Experience everything the Alaska Zoo has to offer!

A walk along the trail at 4:00pm!

Explore the trails at Chugach State Park. It’s a land of mountains, glaciers, rivers and lakes, and is home to bears, wolves, lynx, moose, beavers and other wildlife habitat. Go for camping, skiing, rafting, kayaking, fishing and hiking at this spot.

Time for retail therapy at 5:00pm!

Go to the Alaska Wild Berry Products (5225 Juneau Street, Anchorage, AK 99518, United States), a sweet shop that specializes in Alaskan chocolates, jellies and jams, salmon, candies, and gifts. Pick from their signature wild berry jellies and candies covered in chocolate. It also has unique selection of souvenirs, keepsakes, and apparels. 

Then, head off to the Dimond Center Mall (800 E Dimond Blvd #3-500, Anchorage, AK 99515, United States) that houses name-brand retailers. It includes Old Navy, Gap, American Eagle Outfitters, The Body Shop, Foot Locker, native Alaskan crafts at kiosks, to just name a few.

Enjoy outdoors at 7:00pm!

Kincaid Park boasts more than 60km of outdoor trails for hiking, biking and walking. This is a great spot for skiers, as many trails are for night skiing.  Relish the recreational walks, and enjoy the outdoors and wilderness. It offers spectacular views, and has a large wildlife population as well, including moose, bear, lynx, eagles, fox, and many more.

Dinner at 9:00pm!

Step into Kincaid Grill and Wine Bar (6700 Jewel Lake Rd) that serves international cuisines and wine, or go to Jen’s Restaurant (701 West 36th Avenue Olympic Center) for French, European and International cuisines. Hankering for American fare, head to the Bear Tooth Theater Pub & Grill (1230 W 27th Ave), or The Rustic Goat (2800 Turnagain St). Taste the delicious Vietnamese and Asian food at Pho Lena (2904 Spenard Rd).  

Party starts at 10:00pm!

Fun Kicks up in Anchorage when the sun goes down.  Warm up with the locals, sip your drink and dance all night long!
